JURY REPORT
The jury is immediately captivated by this sensory, tactile image. You can almost feel the material, in fact you can just smell the leather.
A daring choice of the photographer to go for this image. But definitely spot on. Conceptually it is a strong image. The photo trigger all kinds of questions that raise a smile, especially if you don't look at the title too much.
A stimulating game starts between image and audience: are we looking at the photo negative of the photographer's buttocks, or is it a sofa, may it’s a leather trousers or perhaps the backside of an elephant? And think of all those items that have disappeared in our leather sofas: keys, loose change. But also everything we found in leather couches or between the cushions where we sit.
A photo with humor, courage and an unexpected main character who we all know very intimately.

JURY REPORT
A fascinating still life captured in a beautiful composition of dark and light. Like moths, we are drawn to the warm light. It is a photo that, the longer you look at it, draws you deeper into the image.
A familiar image that still evokes all kinds of different emotions and associations in the viewer: loneliness, emptiness, but at the same time a sense of peace and a certain intimacy, a feeling of being at home.
There remains room for the viewer to create their own story. The power lies in all its simplicity: this photo captures many moods, stories and interpretations.

FRESHWATER ZEBRA MUSSEL
by Indy van Arkel
A picture full of textures, layers, sharpness and depths that makes a lot happen in the minds of the judges. You are taken on a journey through associations and images. With each cropping of the photo, a new story emerges. It is an image focusing on a minuscule detail in nature: the tiny zebra mussel, central, in a stream of crisp water over stones, edges and ledges. Water so clear and fresh you could drink it in your mind. And at the same time, the picture conjures up images of galaxies and black holes that the Euclid, Hubble or James Webb telescope might have made.
Thus, tiny and immeasurably large are artfully captured in a single photographic image.

JURY REPORT
A striking image of a girl on the brink of womanhood.
There is a strong esthetic and a clear craftsmanship present in this photograph. A powerful portrait of the transition from childhood to life, adulthood, adventure. A future depicted by the light in her face. Despite the fact that she is seated there is a sense of movement: the stuffed animals will move back while she goes forward. A bit like the girl on the book cover in the background she’ll surf into the future on a wave of teddy bears. The light on her face and the strength and determination she showcases in her eyes evoke a promise of speed and the question whether it will be a bumpy ride from here or not.

JURY REPORT
The jury chose a powerful, stylised photograph that captures both tension in image and tension in content/story.
A composition with an almost Vermeer-like light from the side. And a composition with the straight lines of the blue curtain and the snow-white shirt on the one hand against the zigzag line of the body and skin colour on the other.
A perfectly chosen moment in the action where the face is momentarily hidden also gives the image a mysterious power and graphic quality. And an image that captures the imagination: does the shirt come off and is it the hasty overture to something intimate or is it just the conclusion of an amorous moment? Or does this day simply start in this picture in bright white and blue?
